The collaboration between the Africa CDC and CEPI established a suite of activities, with a dedicated outcome area for laboratory strengthening and biosecurity, including activities focused on the biosafety and biosecurity implications of artificial intelligence (AI) in pandemic preparedness and response (PPR). This high-level side-event is intended to identify risks, challenges, and opportunities specific to the African context in alignment with Africa CDC’s vision of a safer, healthier and more prosperous Africa. The overarching objective of the event is to develop an African strategy for the safe and secure use of AI to accelerate progress toward 100 Days Mission capabilities.
