This side event will spotlight how regional pooled procurement can strengthen Africa’s ability to secure reliable access to essential health products. Drawing from the East African Pooled Procurement Mechanism, the SADC Pooled Procurement Services and the Africa CDC Pooled Procurement Mechanism, it will showcase lessons on demand consolidation, regulatory convergence, and improved access to medicines, and medical products. Co-hosted by EAC and Africa CDC with support from the German Government and the European Union, the session will explore how regional and continental mechanisms can work together and identify practical pathways for scale-up, fostering affordability, and local manufacturing across the continent.
