Stillbirths remain a critical yet underrecognized public health challenge, with nearly half of the world’s 2 million annual stillbirths occurring in sub-Saharan Africa. Weak data systems and limited policy attention hinder effective response and accountability. This CPHIA 2025 side event led by Africa CDC in collaboration with the University of Cape Town and UNICEF will spotlight findings from a continental survey on stillbirth data systems, highlighting gaps and opportunities for integration. Through presentations, panel dialogue, and interactive discussions, participants will explore how strengthening national policies and health information systems can drive better maternal and newborn outcomes across Africa.
