This side event will address the rising burden of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) in Africa, where they account for over a third of deaths and 37% of premature mortality. It will highlight prevention of primary causes, cultural relevance, community empowerment, and accountability of providers, while emphasizing multimorbidity with infectious diseases and the needs of vulnerable groups. By showcasing the NCD best buys and operational tools like the WHO PEN and PEN-Plus, and promoting multisectoral collaboration, the session advances Africa CDC’s New Public Health Order and vision of a healthier, prosperous Africa.
