The African Medicines Agency: a key prerequisite for a safer, healthier and prosperous Africa
Africa’s recurrent health emergencies highlight the urgent need to have an African Medicines Agency (AMA) to enhance national regulation of medical products and oversee rapid market authorization of safe, quality and effective medicines and vaccines across Africa.
As the foundations of the AMA are being laid out, the event will bring together stakeholders from the public sector, private sector, academia and civil society to discuss why AMA is a prerequisite for a safer, healthier and prosperous Africa.
The event will be hosted by IAPO and IFPMA with the AMA Treaty Alliance (AMATA), a multi-stakeholder alliance set up to advocate for the ratification and implementation of the AMA Treaty and for meaningful engagement with patients and other non-state actors, in all aspects of the Agency’s framework and development.
