Prof. William Kwabena Ampofo is the Executive Director of the African Vaccine Manufacturing Initiative (AVMI). A virologist and Associate Professor at the University of Ghana, he previously led the Virology Department at the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research and now also serves as CEO of Ghana’s National Vaccine Institute. At AVMI he steers pan-African partnerships to expand end-to-end vaccine R&D and manufacturing, drawing on decades of work in surveillance, outbreak response and regional capacity building. Prof. Ampofo regularly represents AVMI in continental fora on vaccine manufacturing and policy coordination.
